Background:

Vimentin is a member of the intermediate filament family of proteins, which together with microtubules and actin microfilaments, compose the cytoskeleton.  Vimentin is responsible for stabilizing cytoskeletal interactions as well as for maintaining the integrity of the cytoplasm and cell shape.  Additionally, it functions as an organizer of a number of important proteins that are involved in cell attachment, migration and signaling.

Rabbit polyclonal antibodies were produced by immunizing animals with a GST-fusion protein containing the N-terminal region of human VIMENTIN. Antibodies were purified by affinity purification using immunogen.
